Police in Maryland say two pedestrians were hit by a dump truck in Germantown on Thursday afternoon, and the woman died. The dump truck was working with construction related to the new West Germantown Fire Station on Germantown Rd.
The couple lived less than a mile away and were heading in the direction of their home on Falconcrest Road.
WUSA9.com reports: “One piece of equipment was operating and observed them, and was concerned that they were too close, and [he]stopped his equipment to let them pass,” said Sgt. Meredith Dominick of Montgomery County Police.
The couple continued walking in the southbound, curbside lane that was closed by construction work. The driver of a dump truck that was backing up, hit 74-year-old Yunshu Li and 78-year-old Xiufeng Wang.
“He was doing a couple of jobs and was going between two pieces of equipment, and then entered into the dump truck and was backing up,” said Dominick.
