Friday, Sept. 12, 11:00a

Montgomery County initially stated that, in the Clarksburg area, a damaged fire hydrant and attached 16″ water main have resulted in nearly 600 customers without water today.  WSSC crews were on site and working to repair the damage and restore water to customers before the end of the day.

A collision involving an SUV on Frederick Road had left a water main broken and caused a water service disruption for hundreds of residents in the area, as well as two schools and the Montgomery county detention center.

At 12 noon the county stated that WSSC crews have restored water to the 600 homes and businesses that were affected.  The problem occurred when a car struck a fire hydrant on Frederick Road, and it was initially thought that the damage extended to the attached water main.  Fortunately, only the hydrant was damaged and repairs were quickly completed.
