The Oktoberfest is a sixteen-day festival held each year in Munich, Bavaria, Germany during late September (and running to early October). Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the Munich event.
Beers are made especially for Oktoberfest in the spring, finally ready by October.
Various towns across the Washington area have Oktoberfests.
Including Germantown, on Saturday October 4th. Despite the fact that there have never been very many Germans living in this area, this area is a natural for such a festive event.
And did I mention the beer? They have beer. Which is strange, sort of, because of the emphasis on safe driving and moderation in general.
