A Gaithersburg man has been arrested in the murder of a man near a Germantown trail. Anton Powell, 20, has been charged with first-degree murder. Amazingly, Powell was charged the day after the murder. Police kept this arrest under cover because they still liked another suspect.

A body was found by a jogger at approximately 8:30a on Friday, June 20th. The victim was identified on June 23rd as Rakeimi Jabari Hardin, Jr. Hardin, age 23, lived in the 1600 block of McMahon Road in Silver Spring.
His body was found along the Seneca Creek Greenway Trail, part of Great Seneca Stream Valley Park, located east of Frederick Rd. (Rt. 355), at the eastern end of Middlebrook Rd.
The autopsy completed by the Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore determined the cause of death was gunshot wounds and the manner of death was homicide.
Charging documents filed in Montgomery County District Court say police ‘‘found evidence of a controlled dangerous substance transaction.” Evidence shows that Hardin called Powell on the evening of the June 18th, then went to meet him.
Possibly to make a drug transaction.
