getting them to like opera while they’re young
In the movies at least, the beautiful woman is all dressed up, looking at the opera or ballet with a pair of, well, opera glasses. Next to her is a handsome man, dressed up in a tuxedo, head slumped over, fast asleep.

At Fox Chapel Elementary in Germantown, kids are getting a boarding school upbringing for county rates. Fourth graders there are doing opera.

Two Paws Up is the name chosen by the kids for their opera company. Adult fine arts and kid stuff combined.

Music teacher Evie Smith writes, “Opera is often typically alienating to children, because they believe it has no relationship to their own life experience.”
