it’s not a book sale, it’s a book drive

This just in from the Gazette:

The National Junior Honor Society at Kingsview Middle School in Germantown is holding a book drive and accepting donations to benefit the Blaine Academics Plus School in Philadelphia…The National Junior Honor Society is hoping to deliver at least 1,500 new and gently used books for pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. Drop off books to the media center by May 16. The school is located at 18909 Kingsview Road.

I’m disappointed. No book sale. It’s a book drive. I’ve never heard of such a thing. You go over to the school, give them books, then walk away. Then they take the books and deliver them to a school in Philly. That’s no fun. They have to sell the books to us, then give Philly the money. Now that would be a win-win.

But then Philly wouldn’t have any books. And books are expensive. But at least they would be able to buy the books they wanted. Not the numerous copies of Charlotte’s Web and The Polar Express.

But then what do I know?
